How many times have you heard “I’m sorry that happened to you”, and felt the weight of those words land flat? This workshop is about more than apologies. It’s about reclaiming your story, writing it in your own words, and releasing what no longer belongs to you.
Writing is not just reflection—it’s liberation. On the page, you get to choose the language, the frame, the rhythm. You get to say the thing no one else will say, or rewrite what was taken from you. Writing is where you hold the pen, and in doing so, hold your power.
Guided by a writer, longtime sexual assault advocate, and survivor, this five-week workshop creates space to move beyond silence, shame, and survival into expression, release, and renewal.
Science supports what survivors already know in their bones — writing heals. A Harvard review found that writing is a powerful tool for emotional wellness, and more than 200 other studies show its ability to reduce stress, strengthen resilience, and help us integrate painful experiences into a larger story of who we are becoming.
Together we will:
-
Own your stories without apology.
-
Use writing as a tool for release, empowerment, and reclamation.
-
Explore creative prompts that transform pain into expression and insight.
-
Learn to write safely about difficult experiences with grounding practices.
-
Write and record our own victim's impact statement
-
Build a compassionate practice that sustains creativity and healing long after the workshop ends.
